This piece includes four ceramic tiles based on an image that I created using Adobe Illustrator. I hand formed the tiles and underglaze them with white and black slip (a colored clay coating painted over the tiles). Then I ran each tile through a CNC router which carved the images into the slip. These tiles were created in 2016 at Maine College of Art (MECA) with the final glaze firing completed in 2017 in Chicago. Special thanks to MECA faculty member, Bennett Morris, who was tremendously helpful in setting up the CNC Router and facilitating the process.
