Ceramics
I created this coppery, and matte black vase on the potter's wheel, and glazed and fired it in an outdoor Raku workshop run by Maine ceramic artist, Nate Winter. It was an amazing experience that I recommend to anyone interested in seeing how ceramics can be transformed.
Raku pieces undergo a special glaze and firing process that result in metallic and matte surface qualities that are unpredictable and unique. After firing, Raku vessels remain porous; so they are not water tight, or food safe. Instead, they are prized for their decorative qualities, and one-of-a-kind colors and textures.
