I created this coppery, metallic-like vase on the potter's wheel, and glazed and fired it in an outdoor Raku workshop run by Maine ceramic artist, Nate Winter. It was an amazing experience that I recommend to anyone interested in seeing how ceramics can be transformed.

Raku pieces undergo a special glaze and firing process that result in metallic and matte surface qualities that are unpredictable and unique. After firing, Raku vessels remain porous; so they are not water tight, or food safe. Instead, they are prized for their decorative qualities, and one-of-a-kind colors and textures.
